Pi-star Scraper and statistics using tools like Grafana
Python script to get data from the Pi-Star Dashboard and store it to InfluxDB
you might also be interested in something I set up recently: a script which scrapes the Pi-Star dashboard regularly and puts the data into a database. With this, I have an unlimited activity history and can do nice statistics using tools like Grafana.

Pi-Star security vulnerability
... have you opened it up to the outside world?
My Jumbospot based hotspot had been running continuously for weeks without problems, then I noticed that it had begun hanging most nights. This carried on for a couple of weeks with me trying out various configuration changes without success. Then I logged in via SSH one evening and got a "disk full" error message referring to "/var/log". When I checked, I found that the "auth.log" file had grown to fill the entire "/var/log" partition. Viewing it revealed that my hotspot was under continual attack from the internet - bots around the world were flooding it with login attempts with random user ids and passwords on a range of port numbers and protocols!

Note 1: If you don't want to auto-connect to a talkgroup (when Pi-Star is set up as a hotspot),
use: StartRef=4000;RelinkTime=60;UserLink=1;TS1_1=9;
Note 2: If you turn off DMR Mode via MMDVMHost Configuration, these options aren't saved.
When you turn on DMR Mode again with DRM+ or DMRGateway set as the DMR Master, you'll need to re-enter these options.

JumboSpot or Hotspot Pi-Star RF Power Level
Hotspot PI-STAR RF Power Level
I have a mmdvm open spot and it has a hidden antenna built inside the box. It turned out I could use my HT with 0.5 W 200 meters away!
So I got inside the expert menu, and tuned down the "RFLevel" from 100 to 10. After the change, the communication is satisfactory in my apartment with reduced EMF.

RX NXDN but NO TX
I hear RX NXDN users but it doesn’t hear my transmissions.
Before I mess with RxOffset I think this is a issue that needs attention first.

With the release of the Pi3 B+ there have been a number of changes to Stretch to support the new board, those changes have not (yet) propagated to Jessie (Pi-Star 3.x is based on Jessie).
However I know a number of you already have Pi 3B+ boards, so I have made a custom image to support these, the kernel is *not* upgradable on this image, please keep that in mind if you choose to use it.
Pi-Star v4.x is built on Stretch, it will support these boards better and apart from a passing resemblance to the current chain, its a very different animal - I hope this beta build will keep you going until we can get 4.x out of the door.

PI-STAR mobile Free Hotspot
My solution for using pi-star at mobile FREE wifi mobile hotspots while travelling
Understood when travelling and maybe using free wifi to connect a hotspot.
Outlined is an example of how to transfer the "wpa_supplicant.conf" file with wifi setting onto a SDcard and moved to the hotspot device. To activate that device on free wifi ie.coffee shop.

JumboSpot Pi-star Settings
JumboSpot Pi-star Settings
I have acquired a Jumbo Spot 17 board to try on Pi Star, there is a sticker on it saying RXOFFSET=500 TXOFFSET=500
P25 OFFSET=+200.
I have put the 500 offset in RX and TX in MMDVM Host in expert mode, but what is the P25 offset referring to ?
It doesn't say TX or RX, there is another RXD and TXD offset setting, does it refer to this I wonder.

Here are some basic instructions:
Optionally, if you want a domain name, rather than entering an IP address, you need to buy a domain name from someone. There are tons of places to buy one from.

PI-Star Wifi SSID not visible disabled - Hidden SSID
So what I have found Pi-Star does not seem to find the WIFI SSID if it is disabled or if SSID is hide
I'm start working with a raspberry pi and I'm dealing with a WiFi network that is not available everytime. This means that there might be a period of 30 seconds, let's say, during which the network is available and in the following seconds it is not.
Which steps should I take to ensure that my raspberry pi automatically connects when the WiFi network is available?

Pi-star Privacy
As we understand that all hotspots shares the frequency, model, firmware and the IP address that it uses for the connection.
For many this is acceptable.
So a question the creator of Pi-Star interface about Privacy?
